Quick answer

Boat caulking and resealing in one minute

What is boat caulking and resealing? It is removing old, cracked or failed marine sealant from joints, hatches, portlights, windows and deck fittings, cleaning and prepping the surfaces, and applying fresh marine-grade sealant so the joint bonds properly and helps keep water out.

What we reseal
Hatches and portlights, windows and frames, deck hardware and fittings, rails, cleats, antenna bases and seams with visible cracking or water entry.
Leak prevention
Fresh sealant fixes many common leaks, but some leaks come from hardware, frames or structure. We tell you before we start if resealing won’t solve it.
Price
Depends on the areas and access. Free quote from photos and location.
Where
At the marina or in the yard, from Oakville to the Scarborough Bluffs, planned around dock rules.

What’s included

What’s included in sealant replacement.

We focus on clean prep, proper adhesion, and marina-friendly work. Scope is confirmed after inspection.

Sealant Work (Core)

  • Inspect leak areas and failed joints
  • Remove old/failed sealant (as accessible)
  • Clean + prep surfaces for proper adhesion
  • Apply marine-grade sealant and finish clean edges

Common Areas We Re-Seal (Core)

  • Hatches and portlights
  • Windows / frames (where applicable)
  • Deck hardware and fittings (selected points)
  • Seams/joints that show visible cracking or water entry

Optional (Only With Approval)

  • Water test / targeted troubleshooting
  • Minor surface prep/cleanup around fittings
  • Spot touch-ups where prior work is failing nearby

Honest note: Some leaks come from hardware, damaged frames, or underlying structure, not just sealant. If re-sealing won’t fully solve it, we’ll tell you before we proceed.

Where boats leak

Where boats leak and what to check.

Signs that sealant has failed: water stains under a window, damp cushions, drips after rain, or cracked and lifting caulking you can see from the deck.

Hatches

Rubber seals and the frame bedding age; water runs in around the corners.

Portlights & windows

The most common cabin leak. Cracked sealant around the frame lets rain in.

Deck hardware

Cleats, stanchions, rails and fittings through the deck need sound bedding so water doesn’t reach the core.

Antenna & electronics bases

Every screw hole is a possible entry point if the sealant has aged.

Hull-to-deck joint & seams

Visible cracking or gaps along seams and joints.

Windshield frames

Older frames lose their seal and leak into the helm area.

Preventing Leaks the Right Way (Our Approach)

Fix the failure points, not just the symptoms.

We keep it simple and correct.

01

Identify likely entry points

Water stains, soft spots and cracked joints show where water gets in.

02

Remove failed sealant completely where possible

New sealant over old cracked sealant does not bond.

03

Prep surfaces for bonding

Clean, dry and free of old residue.

04

Re-seal cleanly and let it cure properly

Clean edges, and the joint left to cure before it is stressed or washed.

FAQs

Boat caulking and resealing: your questions.

Can you guarantee no leaks after?
We can’t promise “zero leaks” without full diagnostics, but proper re-sealing fixes many common issues. If we think you need a different repair, we’ll say it.
How much does boat resealing cost?
It depends on the areas and access. Send photos + location and we’ll quote the scope accurately.
Do you work in marinas?
Yes, we plan around access and dock rules.
How do I know my boat needs resealing?
Water stains, damp cushions or lockers, drips after rain, and cracked, shrunken or lifting caulking around windows, hatches and fittings are the usual signs.
Do you reseal boat windows and hatches?
Yes. Hatches, portlights, windows and frames are the most common areas we re-seal.
Can you fix a leak that comes from the structure?
No. If the leak comes from damaged frames, hardware or structure, we’ll tell you and recommend a repair specialist. Cosmetic fibreglass work is covered under gelcoat repair.
When is the best time to reseal?
On a dry day in spring or fall, when the sealant can cure properly before the boat is used or wrapped for winter.
