Quick answer

Hull and deck cleaning in one minute

What is hull cleaning? Hull cleaning removes the waterline scum, algae film, tannin stains and grime from the sides of the boat, from the rub rail down to the waterline. We do it by hand at your slip or on the hard with marine-safe cleaners, together with the deck, non-skid, stainless and glass, so the whole boat comes back clean.

What it is
Exterior boat cleaning: hull sides, deck, non-skid, cockpit, waterline and stainless, done at your marina.
Where
In the water at your slip, on the hard or on a trailer. 76 marinas, yacht clubs and docks from Oakville to Scarborough.
Price
An exterior boat wash starts from $20/ft, and a wash with hybrid ceramic wax (Wash & Shield) from $25/ft, before 13% HST. Exact price from photos, by boat length and condition.
How long
A few hours for a maintenance wash, up to a full day for a deep reset on a larger boat.
How often
After heavy use, before guests or a sale, and every 1 to 2 weeks in season with our weekly boat cleaning.
What’s included

What’s included in hull & deck cleaning.

We tailor the service to your boat’s layout: freeboard height, non-skid, rails, swim platform, rub rail and waterline.

Exterior cleaning (core)

  • Full hull wash: hand wash and rinse
  • Deck wash, including non-skid deck cleaning
  • Waterline cleaning (light to moderate buildup)
  • Removal of algae, green film and surface grime
  • Wipe-down of rails, handles, hatches and high-touch areas
  • Final rinse and towel-dry where possible to reduce spotting

Stain & buildup treatment (core)

  • Targeted treatment for organic stains: algae, tannins, dock grime
  • Treatment for mineral and water marks where needed
  • Bird droppings and spider webs removed
  • Stainless brightened
  • Light surface oxidation film removed (not machine polishing)

Optional, only with your approval

  • Heavy waterline stain removal / acid wash (case by case)
  • Mineral spot treatment / de-scaling
  • Spray protection refresh or Wash & Shield wax
  • Exterior vinyl cleaning and conditioning
  • Canvas and enclosure wipe-down
  • Hull machine polishing for deeper oxidation (separate service)

Honest note: results depend on gelcoat condition, prior protection (wax, sealant or ceramic) and how long stains have been baked in. If we see heavy oxidation or deep staining that needs machine polishing or a different approach, we tell you before adding any work.

Our method

Algae, stains and oxidation: how we clean it right.

Exterior problems usually come from organic growth, mineral deposits and oxidation film. We handle them in layers.

Reality check: if the hull is chalky or faded, washing alone won’t fix it. That’s when machine polishing is the right solution.

01

Identify the stain type

Organic growth, mineral deposits or oxidation film: the right approach starts with knowing which one you’re looking at.

02

Use marine-safe chemistry

Not one universal soap. We match the cleaner to the problem and the surface, so gelcoat and non-skid stay safe.

03

Agitate properly

Especially on non-skid: clean effectively without unnecessary abrasion that wears the texture down.

04

Rinse and finish

Controlled rinse and finish work to minimise spotting and streaks, then a walk-around check.

Exterior cleaning packages

Choose the level that matches the condition.

We recommend honestly. Every package is quoted from photos, because boat size and condition decide the time it takes.

Maintenance wash

Exterior Refresh

Best when the boat is already in decent shape and needs a clean-up.

  • Hull and deck wash
  • Light waterline clean-up
  • Algae and film removal

Great for: Weekly or bi-weekly maintenance, after weekend use, an always-ready look.

Reset clean

Deep Hull & Deck Cleaning

The reset option when buildup and stains are noticeable.

  • Thorough hull wash, deep non-skid deck cleaning
  • Targeted organic and mineral stain treatment
  • Extra time on the waterline and problem zones

Great for: Heavier grime, waterline stains, boats that sat for a while, pre-guest or pre-sale exterior refresh.

Case by case

Heavy Stain / Oxidation Prep

For tougher situations: baked-on stains, heavy waterline, chalky surface.

  • Focused treatment on heavy buildup
  • Stronger chemistry or multiple passes where safe
  • Honest polishing recommendation if oxidation is deep

Great for: Boats that need more than a wash before polishing or protection.

Want protection after the wash? Wash & Shield (full wash plus hybrid ceramic polymer wax) starts from $25/ft before 13% HST. See wax and ceramic options.

Lake Ontario boat problems

What we clean off Toronto boats every week.

Yellow or brown waterline

Lake Ontario leaves a tannin and scum line at the waterline. We lift it with marine-safe cleaners, and treat heavy staining case by case. Get it priced →

Green algae film

Shaded hull sides and the swim platform grow a green film in summer. Regular washing keeps it from setting in. Weekly boat cleaning →

Bird droppings and spiders

Marinas on the lake attract birds and spiders. Droppings are acidic and stain gelcoat if left; webs leave marks on rails and canvas. Maintenance plans →

Water spots and minerals

Rinse water dries into spots on gelcoat, glass and stainless. We dry and finish to reduce spotting, and treat mineral marks. Protection that sheds water →

Chalky, dull gelcoat

If the hull is chalky or faded, washing alone won’t fix it. That’s oxidation: a washed hull with heavy oxidation still looks dull, and the fix is machine polishing that removes the oxidized layer. Boat polishing →

In the water or on the hard

Where and when we clean.

Most boat cleaning is done right in your slip during the season. The hull below the waterline gets cleaned at haul-out, when we can also do bottom paint and shrink wrap.

  • Spring: launch-ready wash after winter storage
  • Summer: weekly or bi-weekly maintenance washes
  • Fall: deep clean before haul-out and storage
  • Any time: before guests, a survey or a sale

Questions

Hull and deck cleaning: your questions.

Do you remove waterline stains?
Yes. Light to moderate waterline stains are included, depending on the package. Heavy staining may need a case-by-case treatment, and we quote it clearly before starting.
Will washing remove oxidation?
Light surface film, sometimes. Real chalky oxidation needs machine polishing to bring back the gloss. Washing won’t replace that. See boat polishing.
Is it safe for gelcoat and non-skid?
Yes. We use marine-safe products and the right agitation for non-skid, so it gets clean without unnecessary abrasion.
How long does hull and deck cleaning take?
It depends on size and condition. Most jobs take from a few hours to a full day for a deeper reset.
Can you do exterior only, without the interior?
Yes. Exterior-only hull and deck cleaning is very common. If you want the inside done too, add interior cleaning.
Can you clean my boat while it’s in the water?
Yes. Most boat cleaning is done in the slip. The hull below the waterline is cleaned when the boat is hauled out, together with bottom work.
How much does boat cleaning cost in Toronto?
An exterior boat wash starts from $20/ft and a wash with hybrid ceramic wax (Wash & Shield) from $25/ft, before 13% HST. We price by boat length and condition, so send photos for an exact quote.
How often should I wash my boat?
In season, every one to two weeks keeps algae, spiders and bird mess from setting in. Our weekly and bi-weekly plans handle it for you.
Do you come to my marina?
Yes. We are fully mobile and work at 76 marinas, yacht clubs and docks from Oakville to Scarborough. No travel fee in Oakville and Bronte, all of Mississauga including Port Credit, Etobicoke, Mimico and Humber Bay, downtown Toronto and the Islands, East York, North York south of the 401 and Scarborough up to the Bluffs.
Do you bring your own products and equipment?
We bring our own marine-safe products and equipment, and we follow each marina’s rules for contractors, runoff and waste.
Do I need to be there?
Usually not. Many owners give us access through the marina office or a gate code. We take before and after photos and video of every job and send them to you.
How do I pay?
By Interac e-Transfer, bank transfer or credit card. For larger jobs we take a deposit, and the rest once the work is done.
