Privacy Policy
Toronto Boat Detailing is a small mobile boat detailing business in Toronto and the GTA, Ontario, Canada. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted.
Short version. We use what you send us to quote, schedule and do the work. Our website uses Meta and Google tags to measure and show our ads. We never sell your information. Email torontoboatdetailing@gmail.com and we will show you, correct or delete what we have.
1. What we collect
When you ask for a quote
Your name, email, phone number, the marina or address where the boat is, details about the boat (make, length, condition) and any photos or message you send through our forms, by email, text or WhatsApp.
When we do the work
The job details, dates, the price we agreed, the invoice, and photos we take of the boat before and after the job.
Payments
You pay us by Interac e-Transfer or bank transfer. We never see or store card numbers. We keep a record that the invoice was paid, as tax law requires.
Collected automatically by the website
Like most websites, ours records technical data when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and where you came from. Some of it is collected by the tools listed in section 3.
We do not knowingly collect information from children. Our services are for boat owners.
2. How we use it
- To answer your message, prepare a quote and book the job.
- To do the work, send the invoice and keep proper business and tax records.
- To contact you about your booking, for example the date or spring unwrap. We do not add you to a mailing list without asking.
- To measure which of our ads bring visitors and enquiries, and to show our ads to people who have visited the site (see section 3).
- To keep the website safe from spam and attacks.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
3. Cookies, ads and analytics
Our website loads these tools. They use cookies or similar technology in your browser:
- Meta Pixel measures visits and form submissions that come from our Facebook and Instagram ads. It also lets us show our ads to people who visited the site. Meta may link this to your Facebook or Instagram account under Meta’s privacy policy.
- Google Analytics and Google Ads tags count visits, show which pages are useful, and measure enquiries that come from Google ads. See how Google uses this data.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a form is sent by a person and not a bot.
- Trustindex loads our Google reviews from its servers.
Your choices
- Meta ads: Facebook ad preferences
- Google ads: My Ad Center
- Google Analytics: opt-out browser add-on
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works. Forms need the Cloudflare check to send.
4. Who else sees it
We share information only with the companies that help us run the business, and only what they need to do their part:
| Company | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Bluehost | Hosts the website | United States |
| Cloudflare | Speeds up the site, blocks attacks, and runs Turnstile spam protection on our forms | Global network |
| Gmail (our inbox), Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement, Google Business reviews | United States | |
| Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Meta Pixel: measures our ads and lets us show ads to people who visited the site | United States |
| Trustindex | Shows our Google reviews on the site | European Union |
| WhatsApp (Meta) | Only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp | United States |
| Galaxy Unit | Our business software, where we keep quotes, jobs and invoices | United States |
Some of these companies store data outside Canada, mostly in the United States. There it is subject to local law. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
5. Photos of your boat
We photograph boats before and after the work to document the job. We post a photo of your boat on our website or social media only with your permission. We never publish your name, marina slip or registration without asking.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that did not become a job: deleted within 2 years, or sooner if you ask.
- Jobs, invoices and payment records: 6 years, because the Canada Revenue Agency requires it.
- Analytics and ad data is kept by Google and Meta under their own retention settings.
7. Your rights
Under Canada’s privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask us to:
- show you the personal information we hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete it, except records we must keep for tax;
- stop using it for ads or marketing.
Email torontoboatdetailing@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.
8. Security
The site runs over HTTPS. It is protected by Cloudflare and a security plugin, and admin access is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach could harm you, we will tell you and report it as the law requires.
